So if Santa left this little bad boy under the tree for me, I’d make one hell of a fun cruiser hot rod out of it. With a mini triangulated 4-Link under the rear, I would be calling on my friends at Ridetech for shocks, some R-Joints, and other odds and ends to get the rear riding nice and hooking up. Up front I’d lean on them for a few parts not intended for a Vega, but that I think could work. Disc brakes, stock looking steel wheels with the factory dog dish caps, a not too nice interior, and either an LTG and a 6-speed or a mellow 5.3 LS with a TKX behind it. Either way the thing would turn heads and be fun to drive and even though it is small it still fits my obsession with long roof cars.

This one doesn’t run, and doesn’t appear to have been operational for some time, but at least you know why it came to sit and fade away. There doesn’t seem to be much if any actual structural rust on the thing and I really think it would look great with the interior vacuumed out and the outside Comet washed. This would be a sweet little hot rod, that’s for sure, and one that I would NOT make into a drag car. Gotta be different. Don’t you think?

If you got this one, what would you do to it?

Yeah, that’s scrap. The amount of parts needed to make it even half drivable is laughable. Oh, and driving V8 Vega’s is really not that fun.

Sitting with no rear window? Not a candidate for returning to street duty. Might work as a gutted drag car though.

  1. old guy

girlfriends Vega had the rear end control boxes rot out from the floor
you could steer the car with the throttle going down the road
It actually had a good nose so she got $125 for it in 82 dollars
Also sold the tires and rims for $75 ..
    Patina my ass

Had a 73 Vega GT wagon. Did a 327, used the Vega Saginaw 4 speed, put a Monza posi rear. Made a split front bumper. Was my daily for 2 years.
