Mike and the crew from IronTrap Garage were back at it, hunting cars and visiting estate sales, when this incredible 1940 Ford Tudor fell into their laps. They had to buy it, don’t get me wrong, but the circumstances that allowed them to make the purchase was pretty fateful. It’s not often that a flaky buyer ends up opening the door for you to buy something this cool, but that is exactly what happened. I’m a Chevrolet guy to the core, but I can tell you that I still dig early Fords and this ’40 is something special. It might even be too nice for me to ruin. With that said, if I was going to do something to a car like this it would involve a dropped axle up front, a little bit of lowering out back, and maybe a T-5 five speed behind the Flatty. Or a 2 speed Columbia rear since I know where one of those is hiding as well.
Man this thing is cool. Check it out and here the story behind them getting it, below.
Video Description:
Mike and our Swedish helpers Carl & Jacob took a quick trip to Northern Virginia to look at a 1940 Ford Tudor. We were offered the car after the highest bidder showed up and offered a 1/3 of his original bid. The car needed to be removed from the property by the weekend and the estate offered us the car!
