Here they are folks! Yep, this cool variety of hot rod roadsters is your America’s Most Beautiful Roadster 2016 class. The different styles and shapes of these hot rods really turns our crank this year and we’re stoked to be able to share them with all of you. Here is a little blurb on each one and a teaser photo. All the details are down below.
Chris Evans’ 1931 Ford Roadster
Evans’ ’31 is a car that seriously turns my crank. Just look at it! Early Hemi, bitchin color, killer stance, wide whites, and tons of style makes this a car that totally deserves to be here.
James Hetfield’s 1934 Packard
When was the last time you saw a Packard going for America’s Most Beautiful Roadster? And especially one with such an amazing art deco look as this one. Hetfield is known for his love of swoopy bitchin machines, and this one looks like it’s as good as they get. The Metallica front man is a bad ass in every way, and a true hard core hot rodder.
Darryl Hollenbeck’s 1932 Ford Roadster
On the surface Darryl’s bitchin ’32 Ford is all traditional, but when you start looking closer you’ll see that not everything is at it seems. This is a really slick looking car that really does it for us.
Tom Lieb’s 1929 Ford
Lieb’s Ford has been an ever changing project for more than 5 years. Word on the street is that there isn’t a single component on this car that was made after 1963. Now that is some dedication. Check it out.
Dean Scott’s 1932 Ford Roadster
Dean and his wife Tammy have put together what a lot of people will say is the quintessential ’32 Ford Hi-Boy Roadster. Big and littles, a great stance, smooth looks, a nod toward the performance that started it all, and classic finishes makes this one good.
Jack Stirnemann’s 1931 Ford
Full fendered hot rods may be some of the easiest to screw up, which is why I’m pretty particular about my fendered roadsters. Jack and his team of builders should be proud as hell, because this one looks like a million bucks. And the paint and wheel color combo is bitchin!
Ron Simm’s Salt Scorpion 1931 Ford Roadster Pickup
Apparently Simm always wanted a roadster pickup, and he’s clearly a performance nut. This truck has a style all it’s own, and had a ton of folks staring at it as soon as it rolled in. This is a make no excuses fun hot rod who’s owner isn’t afraid of pushing the limits.
Maureen Magnuson’s 1932 Ford Roadster
When the late Jerry Magnuson built this car and entered it into the AMBR competition back in 2010 it was a favorite among the contenders, but somehow didn’t win. Maureen was encouraged to enter the car again this year, and did despite this car having been driven for several thousand miles since it’s completion in 2010. There is no doubt that this car is of the caliber that fits the AMBR title, and we also know that this one will be an emotional favorite for many.
Wesley Rawlins 1932 Ford Roadster
This one is a Troy Ladd built special, and his team at Hollywood Hot Rods has done a hell of a job. We happen to know Troy pretty well and love the way he works. His cars have a lot of subtle and hidden tricks that a lot of people never realize they are seeing. We dig this thing for sure.
Jeff Romig’s 1936 Ford
Yet another Hollywood Hot Rods build, this ’36 is one of my favorites. Tons of attitude and style just ooze from this thing. I think it’s perfect.
John Wright’s 1936 Ford Roadster
This car is slick and cool and sits just right. And it couldn’t be farther away from the style of Jeff Romig’s ’36. There is something special about a 1936 Ford to us. What do you think?
Phillip Ray’s 1933 Ford Roadster
Ray’s ’33 Ford is by far the most modern style hot rod in the 2016 AMBR competition. It’s as slick as they come, and looks amazingly clean. We’re sure it will be a fan favorite.
Gary Matranga’s 1932 Ford
This one is all about the contrast between simple and in your face. The color is simple. The engine combo is not. There is something about this roadster that makes us think back to the 1980’s, and yet another part makes us feel like it is just so futuristic. I don’t what to call it, but I know it sure is rad.

Someday…. someday I will make it down to this show to shoot some of these beauties. Gorgeous!
Every year it gets harder and harder to build a roadster that is something different. Congrats to the builders and owners to continue stretching the limits.
