August 2019 Somernites Cruise: Our Last Round From Downtown!

August 2019 Somernites Cruise: Our Last Round From Downtown!

Trying to fit thousands of cars into a couple hours’ worth of photography is a daunting task. Trying to catch every last car you can when half of the attendees want to go cruise up and down the main drag is another altogether. I’ve been absent from the Somernites Cruises for a little while and after this weekend’s visit, I have to wonder why. The quality of the cars is on-point, the show itself is casual and laid-back, the Somernites crew do an outstanding job keeping everything flowing even when there’s a queue of cars a mile long waiting to get into the cordoned-off downtown area, and the people are friendly and are happy to talk cars with you. This is a show that seems to never disappoint.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you are able to, you need to check out one of the shows held in Somerset, Kentucky. Between April and October, the third weekend of the month is when you pack up the hot rod and head into town. Get there by Friday afternoon so you can go to the impromptu show-before-a-show at the parking lot they select, and follow up by visiting either their main web page or their Facebook page to see what other activities they have going on. You won’t be disappointed.

Until next time…
