Here’s our last gallery from the Camaro Nationals, and if you missed the previous galleries we’ve got a link below so you can see them all. This event is cool because it is not only nothing but Camaros but also because of the location which is pretty special. Check it out.
(Words and Photos by Dan Grippo) A few weekends back I was in Pittsburgh, Pa doing some Mustang stuff and while I was on the road, the 2023 version of the Camaro Nationals was happening 10 minutes from my house. I had a blast at the event last year, so I was kind of bummed to miss this go around. Have no fear though, BangShift reader, my brother Dan Grippo braved the heat and snapped a bunch of the F-Body action going down at the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.
The ample parking lot surrounding the Classic Auto Mall was packed with all manner of Camaro. Modern-day examples with odd themes and tasteful modifications sat beside several different generations of day 2 rides sporting period-perfect parts and modifications. Drag car, Pro Touring, and of course, Pro Street builds are still as popular as ever with several of each genre on the premises. Stock-style restorations are still dominant, with many fine examples in attendance.
Inside the thankfully air-conditioned Auto Mall, an area was set aside for the cream of the crop, finest of the fine, the concourse judged Camaros. Here you will find the low mileage survivors, the Super Cars like Yenkos, the COPO’s, and Pace Cars. The high end stuff. Dig that black ‘69 big block COPO RS with the one-off orange rally stripes. So killer.
Another dedicated room was loaded with more invitation Camaros. Street Machines of all descriptions, more back-to bone-stock restos, and really, what Camaro show would be complete without a Bill ‘Grumpy” Jenkins example, this one being a ’68 from the inaugural 1970 Pro Stock. It was resplendent with a tunnel rammed big block shod with white headers, two gulping Holley’s and Moroso cool can, sitting on those gorgeous Cragar SS’s, pure perfection. On the other end of the spectrum, though not all the way to the end was the 2016ish dark blue, bulging Mr. Chevrolet Dick Harrell Edition Camaro, sitting all badass with a 427 LS and sweet Fiske wheels. I’m not much for newer stuff but the photos of this thing, got my attention.
The Camaro Nats will return to the Morgantown, Pa Classic Auto Mall again in 2024, so plan accordingly. If you are even a casual Camaro person, you need to be there in person.
Hell, the Classic Auto Mall is worth a trip by itself.
