As I write this, I’ve watched Spring dive right back into hiding so that Winter could lash out once more, hopefully for the final time. That cute little cold spell that is moving through my neck of the woods really puts into perspective just how nice the weather really was for the Chattanooga Cruise-In last weekend. I know I harp on the weather a lot when it comes to shows, but be honest with yourself for a moment: if it is an outdoor show, what’s the first thing you check after “do I have pants on?” The weather! Nobody wants to freeze their asses off, few want to roast in the sun, and nobody wants to endure sweltering summertime high-humidity situations that even Gold Bond can’t completely cover. The show couldn’t have been better-timed if you tried: temperatures in the low-60 degree range, sun that saw the thinnest layer of high clouds step in close to lunchtime that took the edge off, a slight breeze in the trees that would send blossom petals floating along…like I said. Perfect.
The cars continue to speak for themselves, and I highly encourage you to spend some time actually looking through the gallery. That blue LTD…man, if something like that had popped up before I bought my Charger, I can’t promise that I wouldn’t have picked that up instead. That’s the perfect combination of musclecar looks, full-size car swagger, and luxury appointments in my mind, and I’d rock that barge all day long. And I’m kind of glad that I didn’t bring my Charger down, because I wasn’t expecting THE Charger to roll up and park right out front! That’s right, we had the freaking General Lee on hand, in the care of both Uncle Jesse and Boss Hogg themselves, and they were taking photos with fans for free. Be sure to check out the monster rat-rod Dodge “Job-Rated” flatbed and the lowrider Monte Carlo as well!
