We told you that we had an awesome time at the Rods and Ribs show in Temple. The show was great, the venue is super cool, and the fact that it happened now instead of the normal Memorial Day weekend slot didn’t seem to keep cars from showing up at all. This one had to be postponed due to COVID but they made up for it with an awesome show FULL of cars and trucks and everything you want to check out. With somewhere around 700 cars, trucks, customs, and hot rods on site, there was something for everyone. Celebrating the 10th year of the show certainly didn’t go as planned, thanks to COVID-19, but it certainly didn’t seem to dampen the spirits of those in attendance during this rescheduled weekend. The location, at a great park called Bend of the River Ranch, is right off the freeway just south of Temple Texas and is a really nice park with trees and grass and plenty of room for lots of cars and spectators. This is one of those shows where Friday night is part of the festivities and a few hundred of the folks moved their rides in and hung out to party. Some even camped out there at the show, which we love.
This event is normally a car show and BBQ competition, but because of COVID restrictions the BBQ portion of the show was cancelled. The lot that normally houses all the BBQ competitors is big and we can’t wait to get back there next year to see them all competing and to try some grub. As far as car shows go, this is one of the nicest locations that we’ve been to since moving here to Texas and are super glad that Wickam told us to come. We’ve got lots of photos to share, but if you miss any of them, then click the link below to see them all!
