Lone Star Throwdown 2023: Customs Trucks Of All Flavors, Our Show Photos Are Right Here

Our photo galleries continue! Man, this truck is awesome and I love it. Check out the photos.

(Words and Photos by Chad Reynolds) I took two newbies to Lone Star Throwdown in Conroe Texas this weekend and they were blown away! Lone Star Throwdown, or LST as it’s often referred to, is one of the premier custom truck shows in the country. It also happens to be one of a few of those that happen in the state of Texas. It’s also one of my favorites. This show draws folks from all over the country, along with Canada and Mexico. In previous years I’ve been joined by my partner in crime, Charles Wickam but he wasn’t able to come into town for the show this year. Instead, I asked my buddy Ryan Wing from Street Car Chronicles, and he brought his son  Jake along for some fun and excitement. It had been years since Ryan had been to a truck show and it was going to be Jake’s first. That wouldn’t go well, as 11 year old Jake left the show not only wanting to finish his street strip S10 project but also wanting a bagged C10. There were insane numbers of trucks and some really cool stuff we loved. We didn’t shoot every single truck there, but we got hundreds and hundreds of them for you to check out, that’s for sure.

After getting up at 5 am, I met up with Ryan and Jake in downtown Dallas and we hit the road. A stop at Buc-ees for some breakfast burritos and some cheap gas along the way had us and the truck fueled and ready to rock. We got to the show, found a great parking spot, and just barely missed the huge rush at the gate. It was craziness from that moment on.

I snapped photo after photo, Ryan and Jake shot video after video, we all three dreamed and schemed and planned fantasy trucks in our heads, we talked to racers and truck guys and gals we knew at the show, and when our feet felt like they were going to fall off we jumped back in the truck to head out.

I had some parts to pick up pretty close to the show, so a quick detour was in order before we grabbed some food and hit the road home. Quick did not happen, however, as Shawn had a bitchin collection of project cars and such that had us walking around drooling all over again. When we left Shawn’s place, after nearly two hours, we hit the Chinese buffet and then the road, for the 4 hour ride back home.

So, here is your first gallery. I’ll have more coming over the next few days, but figured I’d make this first one a taste of some of the stuff you can expect. We’ll have show galleries, some brand and body style specific galleries, and more.

Enjoy, let us know which ones are your favorites, and check back for more tomorrow!
