Holeshots are an interesting phenomenon at the dragstrip. On one side of the race track you have someone who is thrilled with cutting an awesome reaction time that opened a window that just might allow them to win and on the other side you have someone who cut a light that was bad enough that it opened up a window that just might make them lose. Neither of them knows for sure which scenario they are in when they leave the starting line, although they might have a bit of an idea.
At the top end of the race track only one of these two is going to be happy with the outcome, and if that person is the one who’s reaction time gave them the chance at victory, they are going to be extra excited. And the loser is going to be extra disappointed. Losing when you have a similar reaction time and you got outran, is fine. Well, it sucks, but it is fine. You aren’t to blame. But when you lose on a holeshot, you always blame yourself for the loss.
