Is a 300 MPH Jet-Powered Econoline Van For Under $40K the Deal of the Century?

Is a 300 MPH Jet-Powered Econoline Van For Under $40K the Deal of the Century?

We’ve seen just about everything on eBay, but this might be the first time we’ve seen turbojet-powered Ford Econoline up for sale. The seller is looking to move it as a “business” rather than merely a full-size van with a fighter-jet engine inside of it, which would be pretty awesome on its own. With the Westinghouse J34—an early fighter jet turbojet with afterburn—the seller claims this van will go 300 mph, limited by the tires, and with a dual-parachute setup, this does indeed look tailor-made for a few air show runs.

The van looks to have run within the last couple years and from the seller’s wording, the J34 is part of the deal along with a pile of things to help you run it, possibly including a tutorial from the current owner/driver.

You can watch video of the Jet Van in action at Wright Air Force Base from 2014 right here and it certainly looks like it’ll haul the mail and/or the punk band’s battered old amplifiers and drums at a good clip.

If it can actually go 300 mph, the Econoline is likely the fastest van in history and that’s gotta be worth something. So for a Buy It Now price on eBay of $39,850, is it worth it?

No interior pictures, but that paint scheme and front clip treatment makes me wonder if they used Nomex shag carpet. And if I bought the van, I’d make sure to add it.

Now, where can I get a business loan for something this crazy?
