Bonneville Speed Week 2021 is a go folks and is starting in just a few weeks. The records that fell last year are poised to fall if everyone can get the power to the ground again this year. We are hoping the salt is as good, that’s for sure, and can’t wait to see who all shows up. It is the ultimate hot rodding and racing event, and you can come out and watch for as little as $20! Come on down and check it all out! As usual, we’ll have a jillion photos coming to you all week long and can’t wait to share all the action with you right here at BANGshift.com.
Here is all the info from the SCTA and BNI!
August 7th-13th
2021
Land speed racing’s premier sanctioning body, the Southern California Timing Association along with Bonneville Nationals Inc., is holding its largest event of the season, the 73rd Annual Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. The salt conditions are great this year, hard and dry, with two long courses groomed and ready, plus a third short course to accommodate Rookies and qualifiers. There are over 300 teams entered at this time. Streamliners with speed potentials over 500 mph to vintage 50cc motorcycles that struggle to reach 50 mph. Every vehicle is unique and represents the universal hot rod spirit. Every team hopes to establish an official SCTA Bonneville record in one of the multitudes of classes available.
Speed Week 2021 is held on the Bonneville Salt Flats, only 2 hours from Salt Lake City and just 15 minutes from Wendover, Utah, on the I-80 national highway. The facility is easily accessed from the Bonneville Speedway exit. Entry is available onsite with $20 day passes. Week passes cost just $50.
There may be some simple rules to abide by this year, due to COVID-19. But we are not aware of any restrictions at this time. We are committed to protect the health and safety of our participants, spectators and volunteers and we will do whatever we must, to comply. We recommend that you bring your own mask and hand sanitizer.
Spectators, racers, and crews are supported by a variety of local and out-of-state vendors offering food, drinks, racing safety equipment, sunglasses and more. The SCTA-BNI sells their exclusively branded merchandise and souvenirs at the event and on their SCTA-BNI website. Specific details for the event, including up-to-date event status, maps, schedules, and general information can be found at www.scta-bni.org.
