When the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) announced a few years ago that they were bringing NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing back to the northeast, the people of New England lost their minds at the thought that an NHRA National Event was coming to New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. Well it is once again time for the NHRA New England Nationals and the north east’s drag racing fans have flocked to Epping to watch a great weekend of racing. While there are tons of sportsman racers on hand for the weekend in classes like Stock, Super Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Alcohol Funny Car, Alcohol Dragster, Competition Eliminator, and more, the two Pro Categories on hand are the baddest of the bad, Nitro Funny Car and Top Fuel.
This weekend’s Top Fuel and Funny Car qualifying started today and after the Friday night qualifying session was done the top of board was held by Clay Millican and J.R. Todd in Top Fuel and Funny Car, respectively. There are still two more rounds of qualifying on Saturday, but weather could become a factor later in the day as thunderstorms are expected. The good news is that Sunday looks nice and should provide a great day to get in the elimination rounds going in all categories.
Clay Millican 3.795 SEC at 326.71 MPH
J.R. Todd 4.022 SEC at 317.34 MPH
