Nostalgia Drag Racing With The Southwest Heritage Racing Association

Nostalgia Drag Racing With The Southwest Heritage Racing Association

(Words and Photos by Bad Brad Klaasen) Round two of the Southwest Heritage Racing Association’s traveling road show rolled into North Star Dragway, just north of Denton, Texas, on May 6th. The weather was perfect, the car count was loaded as usual, and the fans and racers were ready for another great afternoon and evening of killer eighth mile nostalgia drag racing. North Star owner, Gene Nicodemus, and his staff always have the track prepped to the max and he and his crew always make sure the show runs quick and smoothly with fantastic racing action well into the night.

With the help of dedicated and fun loving racers and staff, SHRA president, Chris Graves’s brain child five years ago keeps growing each year. With the initial Nostalgia Eliminator class’s one through three, Graves and the SHRA also added an ultra cool Nostalgia Super Stock class two years ago that continues to grow as well. The new formed Dirty South Gassers Association also competed in their debut SHRA event at this race. The action was hot and heavy with drivers and crews often running their index number spot on.

So, if you’re in this part of the country and want to see some super competitive nostalgia drag racing, check out a Southwest Heritage Racing Association race near you. I’ll guarantee you’ll have a great time. Now, go check out the shots from this race.

See you at the drags,

-Bad Brad
