Little Hemis are cooler than hell, and the perfect engine for almost any old school hot rod, so when we saw this one on Craigslist for sale at $9200 we thought that sounded pretty stinking’ good. It’s got a 6-71 Blower on it and probably makes some real steam for 331 inches. If it makes 400 horsepower it would be a riot in a ’32 Ford with a set of bias plys on it. Of course for us we also think it would be a riot in the front of an old DeSoto or a Chrysler New Yorker like this 331 originally came in.

Rebuilt by retired engine machinist. All good new parts. 1955 New Yorker short bellhousing 331. Built for street rod, uses pump gas. Mildly ported heads. Isky 270 hydraulic cam, has mild lope but blower smooths it out. New parts include: 340 starter, spin on filter, transmission adapter to Chevy T350 trans, flex plate, SFI balancer, BB chevy water pump, custom water return/thermostat housing, alternator on low mount, two Edlebrook carbs, AN fuel lines, MSD distributor, Accel wires, Headman tight fit headers.
Blower is 6-71, has new bearings and seals, BDS rear plate, BDS metric drive and idler, dual bottom pulleys. Blower currently set at 10% under (9 lbs boost) over 8.5 static compression ratio.
Unit has quite a bit of polish but could use more for shows. After being put together this past summer, it was put on a run-in stand for break-in and adjustment, but never installed into any car. It is on the run-in stand so you can run it before you buy. Transmission is included, but is a core trans.
