We probably see front engine dragsters for sale more on our west coast Craigslists than any other Craigslist in the country, but every time I get excited. When I saw the pictures for this particular car, I was really excited. It’s the famed Scotty’s Muffler Service dragster that ran up and down the west coast for a couple decades. It’s a short thing, running a blown and injected small block Chevrolet, but it’s got all the right looks and feel since it’s almost completely original. The seller has all kinds of extra parts and history that comes with this car too, so the new owner will be able to brag about what he or she has bought.
I love the look of this car, which is just swoopy enough to be cool, but still boxy enough to be easily recognized as an early car. I dig it.
If I owned this thing I would get it running but leave it looking exactly like it does now, and then I’d do as many burnouts as I could possibly find places to do them at. Can you imagine how much fun it would be to blaze the tires in this sucker?

This is the well-known Scotty’s Muffler & Brake service front engine dragster. This car was competitively ran from the late fifties to the early sixties up and down the west coast of California. I am the 4th owner of this famous car. This is not a clone, it is the real deal. Car has not ran for many years. It is 90% original. I hunted for this car for 10 years before I found it out in Palm Springs California. It came with the original blower, the injector, the motor, the clutch can, original frame all of the original aluminum skin , the nose is the original fiberglass piece as is the back. all the original wheels and front tires. The only thing that’s not original are the rear tires. The engine is a small block Chevrolet running a 6-71 blower. It has a hilborn four hat injector with a hilborn polished scoop. I’ve owned this car for 15 years and now it’s time to pass it on to the next person that will take very, very good care of it. I would have never even considered selling this car but I now have 2 kids both attending college. I have tons of documentation and some extra racing parts with his car. I have found some actual footage of this car back from the late fifties. On YouTube look up “vintage drag racing San Bernardino”. You will see home movies of this very car being tested and being raced. I can ship the car worldwide. I’m not interested in any trades.
