This 1966 SS 396 Chevelle Is Old School Super Gas Cool!

Electronics racing, like Super Gas and Super Comp, get a bad rap sometimes because seeing cars leave on the chip and then sit on a throttle stop is boring. And weird to spectators. We get it. And we aren’t arguing with you on that. But, when the Super categories started they were a bit different. And some say much cooler. Well, this 1966 Chevelle is old school Super Gas cool. It doesn’t appear to have been raced in several years, but has good stuff and the seller claims mid 9’s. We believe it and love it. Love love love it. If it was ours we’d see if we could get the thing to run on the 9.90 index WITHOUT an electronic throttle stop. Just because it would be fun.

With the Cragar Super Tricks, brown paint, and pinstriping this is one cool ride. It has some history too, having run at Bakersfield for the March Meet back in the day. We dig it. Don’t you?

Here is what the seller has to say:

1966 Chevelle Super Sport NHRA super gas drag car, 4 link rear suspension, Dana 60 rear end, roll cage, 468 big block, aluminum heads, Childs and Alberts aluminum rods, Arias racing pistons, Tunnel Ram intake manifold, Two 1050 Holley dominators carburetors. Runs 9.50 at 140 mph in 1/4 mile. One of the original Southern California Pro Gas race car. Car can be made street legal.
A must see car!

Oh, I wouldn’t change it either, except to put a garage door in the south side of my house and pull this baby into my living room!!!
