Jiffy-tite’s Duane LaFleur Is Race Ready For 2014: More Horsepower And More Races!

Jiffy-tite’s Duane LaFleur Is Race Ready For 2014: More Horsepower And More Races!

While most of the companies in the aftermarket have employees that are enthusiasts, or racers, it’s not quite as common to have the head honcho, like Duane LaFleur, out there racing himself. We’re lucky enough to have a couple of company leaders, like Steve Matusek at Aeromotive and Tom Tomlinson of Holley, who do get out there and race their hearts out. Duane LaFleur is in that same category of racer and company leader, and we commend him for it.

Besides stepping up to a 12 event schedule this year, that includes a run at the Division 3 NHRA Championship and 5 NHRA National Events, Duane has also stepped up the horsepower in the LaFleur Racing Camaro Roadster. Replacing the 887 horsepower 540, is a brand new 588 cubic inch Brodix headed Big Block Chevrolet that makes a whopping 1120 horsepower and should be good for big boy mile per hour runs. Why did LaFleur step up to even more horsepower? “Because I want to go fast!” say Duane.

Well we can’t argue with that, and hope that the team does well this weekend in Indy at the first Division 3 points race of the season.

Here’s more information from the team.

NEW ENGINE: Jiffy-tite Racer Duane LaFleur is Ready to Race

Lancaster, NY… April 21, 2014 – LaFleur Racing made the decision to upgrade the engine of their 1968 Race Tech Chevy Camaro Roadster this year from a 540 cubic inch Big Block Chevy  which made 887 HP to a 588 cubic inch Big Block Chevy which made 1120HP on the Dyno. The new engine is equipped with premium components including, a Quick Fuel 1050 CFM carburetor, Flat Out Racing gaskets, Moroso oil pan and wires, as well as Lucas Oil running through K&N filters. The new engine also features Brodix SR20 cylinder heads designed by Tracey Dennis at Sunset Racecraft in Lubbock, TX.

Of course, quality components are nothing without a quality engine builder to make it all come together. Larry Sexton of Sexton Racing Engines in Whitehouse, TN is the man who made it all happen. Truly committed to his work, Larry worked nights and weekends to get LaFleur on the track.

When asked, why build a new engine when your old one did well, Duane LaFleur simply said, “Because I want to go fast.” Well, he’s definitely in the right sport! Driver Duane LaFleur wants to thank his parents, the other half of LaFleur racing, Dan and Gail LaFleur, for their continued support. LaFleur Racing would not be what it is without them.  Jiffy-tite wants to wish LaFleur Racing lots of luck this season!
