Mickey Thompson was an icon in American racing and hot rodding, so it only figures that his son Danny would follow in his footsteps. I remember the first time I met Danny, at his shop in SoCal, where he was restoring his dad’s famed Bonneville streamliner in preparation for his own attempt to crush records on the salt. I’ve known him for several years now and can tell you that he’s about as humble as his dad was confident. He’s got great stories, and has made historic runs, and in the video below you are going to learn a lot more about him. Our friend Brad King is the man behind Stories N Steel and he’s done a great job with this video series.

Video Description:
Danny Thompson, son of racing legend Mickey Thompson went on his own to pursue his passion for racing. Without the approval of his famous father, he did everything he could to create his own racing legacy and finished with blasting across the salt flats at close to 500mph to leave his name forever etched in history.
On this episode we sit down and talk about how growing up around all things racing can have an impact on a young mind. Starting at the age of ten, racing and winning in quarter midgets, to having it all go away until he turned 18. His story is a lesson in perseverance and never taking no for an answer.
