When I first met Kyle at 1320Video he was doing it as a hobby. And I was a hot rod builder from Texas. He’s helped make the Parish8 turbocharged Silverado into an urban legend via videos, and I had made a certain 1956 Chevrolet Station Wagon a household name via the pages of Hot Rod Magazine and Hot Rod TV. Neither of us was doing anything for more than the fun of it, but that very first Hot Rod Drag Week we hung out, had fun, and made a splash in the automotive world that hasn’t been felt since. And we made some awesome friends. It’s been nearly 13 years since I met Kyle, and we’ve traveled all across the country for no damn good reason, and several of those trips were with Jim’s Parish8 pickup, aka the blue truck. Daphne and I met Kyle, Jim, Scott Clark, and the rest of the Omaha crew on day one of Drag Week 1 when we parked next to them in the pits. It has been a fun ride every since.
Recently Kyle and the gang celebrated 2 million subscribers on YouTube, yeah 2 MILLION, and as a treat they have put together a bunch of never before seen footage of street races, drag races, and general tom foolery with the Parish8 truck. Not familiar with it? Well every single turbocharged LS truck on the planet pretty much owes their existence to the blue truck. And it hauled ass. Like 9’s when nobody could even fathom that, and it was a complete actual truck with leaf springs and factory front 4×4 suspension. It ran 10.30’s on the stock factory tires! I was lucky enough to ride in it a couple times to run for parts and can tell you it was a riot doing burnouts at 70 mph on the freeway.
Enjoy the video, I know I will.
