This Wild Thing Is Chaos!: When You Have A 917HP LSX-Powered Volkswagen Thing At LSFest, It’s Gonna Turn Some Heads.!

One of the fun things about LSFest events is having folks come up to me and ask if I’ve seen the “XYZ” that is parked on row whatever. This happens so much that I can’t even explain to you how nuts it is when I’m trying to announce a jillion things going on and also trying to get out on my golf cart to see what everyone is talking about. For 2024’s LS Fest, one of the most talked about cars on property was this killer little orange VW Thing. It’s nuts. I mean truly nuts, and when McTaggart started telling me about it I had to go see it.

And I was NOT disappointed when we did. As he and I pulled up in front of this thing I laughed out loud, repeatedly, and was super excited later in the weekend to meet the owner and find out he planned on having it out for the burnout contest. I mean who wouldn’t want to do the burnout contest in a 900+ horsepower VW Thing?

Video Description:

This wild 1973 Volkswagen Thing is anything but stock—packing an LSX 427 with a massive 10-71 blower, twin Quick Fuel carburetors, and Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers. With four steering wheels, child-sized clown mannequins up front, and a mile-per-smile mentality, this build turns heads and confuses cops everywhere. Built on a shortened S-10 frame with custom everything, it’s a burnout machine that ruffles purist feathers and dominates the LS Fest scene!
