The builds are done! The second season of Hoonigan’s Build & Battle is coming to an end with a showdown at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California. The Vargas brothers and their early Mazda RX-7 is filled to the brim of happy Rotary revving, and Brad’s LS-swapped S-10 has full nitrous bottles on standby. The parts flinging is done…it’s time to actually put these two short-time builds to the test. The premise is simple: give the builders a budget that includes the purchase price of the vehicle, give them fifteen days to get their junk put together, and get to the battleground to earn the right to keep your machine. That’s right…after all of that building, whoever loses will wind up selling their vehicle for charity!
The Vargas brothers know Mazda rotaries like gospel. Brad and V8 power is a match made in heaven. Both vehicles are solid recipes for hauling sincere ass in the quarter mile, so with that being said, it’s a best out of five run with points awarded for fastest E.T., fastest trap speed, budget use, originality and style. One is all beef and not much else, the other is a highly-polished derelict that sounds like five armada’s worth of Japanese Giant Hornets sounding the “kill” alarm. Buckle up, buckaroos, it’s time to determine a winner, once and for all!
