A good drag racing class name should give the casual fan a solid image of the car they are about to see tear the 1,320 a brand new one. Think about it: “Pro Stock”…should be something that is at least visually similar to what they can buy from the show room. “Pro Mod”…this should be a nearly anything-goes category. “Top Fuel”….the peak. Well, there are other names that are taking a bite out of the old categories: “10.5”, for a small tire class is probably on the tip of everyone’s tongue, but “Modified Street Blown”, an Australian Pro Street Association class, certainly has my eye after watching this video from Fullboost. The premise is solid: these are set up similar to small-tire classes that require stock-ish front suspension setups, a stock-ish rear setup (i.e. no four links and rear clips), allow any fuel except nitro, and allow power adders within specification – turbo, blower, centrifugal, nitrous…whatever your poison, have at it. Oh, one other thing: make sure that it’s safe, and that there is some kind of dashboard in the car. What can we say…we are suckers for good door slammer racing involving cars with plates on!
