Australian car culture goes beyond what we normally show, which usually boils down to “put a Roots blower on it and you’re good to go!”. You see a little bit of everything, from Japanese screamers to the no-joke upper end of drag racing. The problem is that normally, it’s the guys laying waste to their tires that normally get featured, not the everyday guys, and that’s kind of a letdown. We aren’t knocking the burnout guys at all…hell, we would if we could!…but this compilation of the turnout at the Calder Park Street Drags near Melbourne is a good idea of a more typical turn out. You’ll see daily drivers, late-model muscle, quick street cars, and one of the nastiest fifth-generation Camaros on the planet hit the quarter mile. You will also see carnage, like when a Chrysler SRT-8 goes to launch but only leaves a few pieces of shrapnel underneath the car.
that was good, like you say not everything here is a burnout car…that was more like typical stoplight races on a saturday night! good stuff…
