Drag Challenge is the Australian analogy to Hot Rod’s Drag Week here in the States. Put on by Street Machine magazine, Drag Challenge largely follows the same rules: an average of times from several different tracks, street cars with just a trailer attached for spares, random routes with photo checkpoints, and all of that good stuff. It’s also got the Drag Week charm…helping fix other racer’s cars when things go belly-up, long drives between tracks, the photo checkpoints that have to be recorded no matter what time of night it is (“We are finally at the checkpoint…can’t see shit.”) and did we mention long drives?
The guys from Fullboost tagged along this year in Tunnel Vision’s 1980 Falcon XD. Other than the widened stock wheels out back and the exhaust note, not much gives this car away at first glance. But it’s a beast, with a Barra six underneath the hood good for four-digit horsepower. And it has license plates. And a trailer. And a few suckers who are willing to spend some time on the road going from track to track. Take a seat and enjoy the ride!
