The Holden FJ line isn’t the first Holden product. That title goes to the Holden FX series, but the FJ was more of a mid-cycle refresh than a completely new design. The FJ was available in either four-door sedan, panel van or ute styles, and power was not exactly it’s strong point. At best, the 2.2L “Grey” inline six was good for sixty five horsepower. That’s enough to tool around on dirt paths with, but in the arenas of speed, that’s the equivalent of a gentle breeze when you were hoping for a typhoon.
We doubt that there is a “Grey” block in this particular ute, but we suspect that a “Red” inline six is under the hood now, and it’s a howler. With a blower making good use of all six cylinder’s appetite for air, this classic utility is a dream machine. Australia might be the land of the V8 in movies, but the six cylinder has just as strong a foothold and can play ball on the track all day long!
Sounds lot like my Chevy 250 only MORE! Cool to see it, redlights and all.

Man that thing leaves hard and just keeps pulling.
When you said it was a Red motor I thought no way, but it is!
