Holley’s Intergalactic Ford Fest and NMRA’s World Finals: It’s Not Just A Mustang Fest!

Holley’s Intergalactic Ford Fest and NMRA’s World Finals: It’s Not Just A Mustang Fest!

Between you, me and the wall, Reader, I have to admit something. I had my concerns about the Intergalactic Ford Fest. Not that it would be cool…honestly, for the past few years I’ve offered up suggestions of adding events to the NMRA World Finals that broadened the fun for everyone. No, my concern was this: an all-Mustang show, or more specifically, Fox-and-newer show. I didn’t want to just see Mustang after Mustang after Mustang that all looked alike, you know? Yes, there are some bad Foxes out there, but I wanted different, I wanted new. I wanted to see some four-eye Foxes in addition to the 1986-newer cars that we see everywhere. I wanted to see wagons, Rancheros, trucks. I wanted Pintos and Mustang IIs and land yacht 1970s-era Iacocca dream barges. I wanted to see Coyote swaps just like we’ve seen LS swaps…get me new bodies!

Did we get it? So far, so good. That Cobra Mustang has my full and undivided attention…it’s super-clean and it’s far from the wheezing 4.2L V8 that it would have had from the factory. Bigfoot 1 is on the grounds, but so are trucks like this bumpside Ford, Lightnings of both eras, Rangers that have screaming small-blocks in them, and a BMW 3-series with Coyote guts in the drift competition. And while you check out more of Friday’s coverage, we’ll be out in the middle of it all looking for more goodness. What’s the over/under on an LTD II with a blower through the hood or a SOHC 427 car showing up?
