Land Shredder: This Twin-Turbo Diesel Land Cruiser Lets It Fly At Willowbank

There’s a spot in the front bumper where you shovel in ice to cool everything down. They aren’t even trying to hide that…just grab a shovel, get some ice and pack that in there for the next run. Apparently the 1VD-FTV 4.5L V8 needs a hell of a lot of cooling in order to make the most out of each run, but GSL Fabrication is up to the task. This J70 Land Cruiser, “FRANKENMULE”, is their in-house hot rod and rolling business card. A quick chassis-cab variation of the FJ70 Land Cruiser, the same one that has been in production since the 1980s, you would expect to see a vehicle like this on a safari somewhere in Africa, or being used as just about any and everything in the Middle East, but leave it to an Australian to take one look at one of the most well-known vehicles on the entire planet and decide that instead of off-roading it, instead of using it as a shop truck, that instead it would become the fastest diesel Land Cruiser on the continent. That’s not so much a goal as it is an obsession, one that needs to be constantly defended in the land of mental racers who will do just about anything just because it suits their fancy that week.
