Lateral Head Pads For Your Roll Cage Keep You Safe, Comfortable, And Contained Which Is The Point!

While we are all familiar with head and neck restraints in racing of all kinds, and the dozens of brands of systems to protect us in front end impacts, one thing that people don’t often talk about is containment laterally in a race car. In some series, like the Southern California Timing Association, there are actual lateral movement maximums in place that must be adhered to during tech. That means there is a maximum number of inches that your head can move side to side while belted in with your helmet on. This is so that if you roll the car sideways you can’t flop your head over to one side far enough to break your neck. The number of inches is not specified in lots of racing, but the principle is still required by many sanctioning bodies.

There are lots of ways to pad a cage, but only a few that are SFI rated and even fewer that are as comfortable as something like these pads from DSP that Tim McAmis is talking about. Watch and see just how cool these can be in your ride.
