The question always kicks in: if there isn’t a track, where are people going to race? In places like the Los Angeles metro, the answer isn’t easy since politics, neighborhood issues, NIMBY groups and other factors come into play. Out in the middle of America’s heartland, however, all you need to do is have a solid reason and maybe a friend or two in the local authorities to help pull on a string and you should be able to set something up in the middle of nowhere, legally, with police keeping the roadway clear and medics on standby. We’ve seen the recipe work in Coffeyville, Kansas and now we’re seeing footage of a Cash Days event that was held in Enid. Oklahoma. The same principles apply: concrete barriers for the protection of the onlookers, otherwise it’s a public street and it’s open season. In the case of this race, it’s a dual-carraigeway roadway, so there is room for each car to move around a little more without sweating the curb or the car in the other lane.
