The Micro Machine From Hell: This Honda S600 Is Short And Sketchy!

Ok, this is interesting enough: small car, large turbo outside of the hood. This tiny-ass little Honda S600 has some grunt for sure, but what it also has is Colin Chapman’s obsession: it’s equal parts more power and less weight. This is a car with a 79″ wheelbase, one inch shorter than a Suzuki Samurai’s. The weight added with all of the safety equipment, performance upgrades and all probably made the car safer to run, as well…1,500 pounds with a pissed-off Toyota JZ mill running the show sounds sketchy under the best of circumstances! But a picture is worth a thousand words, and despite my best efforts, I cannot fully express just how small this car is, so…

On the right is the S600. On the left is best known to our American readers as the Ford Aspire, a rather forgettable crackerbox of a car. The Aspire is small. The S600 is almost toy-like by comparison. A Hayabusa motor would be entertaining in the little Honda…but the JZ mill and it’s 1,200 feral horses fall squarely on the line between mental and Code Brown. Would you strap into this little beast for a run?
