Diesels don’t rev. That’s just the truth of it. A couple of thousand RPMs and you’re in the upper limits for most oil-burners that have been produced. Four thousand RPM and you’re asking a hell of a lot. So, with that in mind, just how hard is the two-stroker in this Kenworth racer revving? I’ve been around diesel pulling trucks and tractors that don’t sound this hell-bent on finding the upper limits of the rotating assembly! Even with it being a drag-only truck, with what looks like propane tanks on the back for some extra fun, by all accounts the noises my ears are hearing says that a rod should have gone through the block or some other kind of catastrophic meltdown should have occurred. Instead, the KW squats down, digs in and gets out of the hole in short order. This is the kind of thing that Lohnes dreams of when he cat-naps…trust us. That’s a damn good 1/8 mile ET!!!
