Missing the dragstrip? Don’t feel alone. With everything around BangShift Mid-West soaked to the bone in never-ending rain showers, the only way that we will race anything in a straight line is with two boats on a lake of cold water. The early events in Florida and California will kick off soon enough, but for people who don’t live that close to the Equator, it’s still very much winter, the cold, sloppy version. So we have the Internet, and we have the ability to enjoy the sights and sounds of a Sunday test and tune session at Heathcote Raceway in Australia, where it’s currently mid-summer. Even if it wasn’t, chances are good that the temperatures would be plenty warm enough for a good bit of testing. All you need to do is figure out what your poison will be. Will you stick with the traditional Holden vs. Ford decision? Does a well-tuned Valiant have something to offer you? Maybe a JDM-spec machine with a big six and a turbocharger is sounding pretty good today. Or, you can just go full-on freakshow and wonder how you can make a brand-new Mercedes Metris look and act like the Vito minvian in the lead photo. We can’t blame you, that’s one wicked looking little bastard!
The guy who built/owns the Gasrite van used to run a nitrous huffing LS powered Mitsubishi van. I remember him cutting loose in Canberra during the Summernats in the Mitsubishi.
