This year NMCA WEST debuts two new classes; Ultra Street and ProCharger Outlaw Street eliminator as well as their popular brackets, Outlaw 8.5, Ultra Street, True Street, Mustang Madness, Top Sportsman, Open Comp – if you want to drag race on a quarter mile, there’s a class for just about any hot rod you can bring through the gate.
True Street brought out Lyle Larson and his 13-second, street driven C4 LT1-powered Corvette. It’s got Holley fuel injection with parts from Edelbrock, nice car.
As in years past, all NMCA WEST events also feature the Hotchkis Sport Suspension Autocross and it was a sellout with nearly seventy entries. The cool part of this competition is that any driver can compete with a street driven ride or all out, trailered racecars. Everybody got multiple shots at the tricky course with some drivers taking out their share of orange cones.
Marc Lewis from Hedman Hedders is a regular at the Hotchkis Autocross with two days of road racing scheduled.
The second stop this year for NMCA WEST is another three-day event at Auto Club Dragway; the Annual West Coast Shootout on June 2-4. Then the 5th Annual Street Car Nationals on September 15-17, followed by the NMCA WEST season ending 5th Annual NMCA West Coast World Finals, October 13-15, 2017.
