Outlaw Street Car Reunion V: Time Trials As The Big Boys Get Prepared For The War

If the temperatures at Beech Bend Raceway were any indication, Outlaw Street Car Reunion V is going to be a riot to watch come elimination time, because it got cool! The preview day was nice and warm without being hot and humid, but the time trial and early qualification session on Thursday was greeted with temperatures that could barely get into the fifty-degree range and that made for some very hot passes. With all classes taking a swipe at the strip today to see where their cars stood, the feeling was mellow unless you were in one of the index classes. Today was their day and they were going for the throat.

Among some of the notable times, you had Dewayne Mills rip a 3.78@211 MPH in the Golden Gorilla Camaro, but I wouldn’t be too sure about that sticking, since Mike Micke and that bad blue Malibu have been making hits as well. If that Malibu hooks, who knows what’ll happen with the listing. In the Mid-West Pro Mods group, Steve Summers shoved his 2016 Camaro through the traps to the tune of 3.794@216 MPH, with Jim Sackuvich and Craig Sullivan a couple of hundredths behind. The sweet sixteen cutoff is currently Robert Costa’s 1970 Duster, with a 6.54 @88 MPH. With a twenty-car field, some rears need to get in gear if they don’t want to be left out in the cold!

We will be back at the track on Friday to watch things get very serious, but for now check out some of the action from Thursday’s session by clicking on a photo below:
