Pressure Building: Four Turbochargers And One Blower – This Volvo Will Run!

Pressure Building: Four Turbochargers And One Blower – This Volvo Will Run!

This isn’t a race car or a street car…this thing is an internet meme that came to life. You can almost see crude, hand-drawn characters yelling at each other. “Volvo racecar!” “Blower!” “ALL OF THE TURBOCHARGERS!” At least, that’s how I’m picturing things because honestly, how the hell does this kind of combination come to be without a massive amount of insanity? A Volvo 960 is supposed to be a bastion of safety, the car of yuppie families circa 1990, a big square-shouldered brick of a sedan that, rally racing footage aside, meant responsibility and comfort. Yeah…that went out of the window. 632 cubic inches of OMGWTFBBQ courtesy of Dart is sitting in the engine bay, pressurized with four turbochargers that feed into the blower. A 4L85E is hanging on for dear life behind it and a Megasquirt does it’s best to feed it. Pump fuel? Yeah…as long as your pump is pushing out 116 octane fuel, you’ll be good to go. This is one angry brick, and it has to sound like Zeus’ own thunder when the sparks start flying internally. A nitrous system is plumbed in but hasn’t been used yet, the cooling system has been radically over-engineered to keep meltdown at bay, and just in case you think this is a bit too far, we know it runs:

I can’t even make sense out of this. Quick, get it to the first burnout contest you can find and let that monster underneath the hood free. Either you’ll emerge victorious or you’ll teach pistons how to be astronauts. Either way, someone let this Volvo loose!
