Pro Mod Who? Tim Slavens’ Bomb Blast 3.621@217 MPH At Lights Out 10!

I’ve been asked why I’m not at Lights Out 10. Why wasn’t I at South Georgia Motorsports Park, where some no-joke wild racing has been going down? Why wasn’t I taking photos? Why wasn’t I livestreaming? Why wasn’t I just there? The answer is simple, folks: the flu has been kicking my ass in all week long. We’re talking sleeping eighteen hours under medication to bounce back from it kind of sick. We’re talking chicken noodle soup and water like none other sick. I’m still not completely over it as I type right now, to be honest. And as you can see, there’s plenty of people at the track who would not want me there, coughing and hacking.

Instead, I got to watch the live coverage from many, many different avenues when I could bring myself to do it, and I caught this moment when it went down. Thanks to J.Malcom, we’ve got it for you as well: the moment that Tim Slavens went up and threw down like a big boy in Radial Vs. The World. He wasn’t the only one that was batting big that night…the whole field for RVW was 3.80 or under in the eighth, and at the time of his run, Slavens’ 3.621@217 MPH was a world record. After the final qualifying session was over, this was the second-fastest run, with Kevin Rivenbark’s ProCharged Pro Mod Camaro blasting out a 3.613@205 MPH. That the Pro Mod was screaming isn’t a shock, even though that time is wild. That Slavens’ car, which is more or less still a 1969 Camaro, is right there is beyond belief. I can’t even fathom how freaking loud it must’ve been when that went down.

I haven’t seen any of Saturday’s action yet, so don’t blow it for me! But for the meantime, enjoy Slavens’ rip down the strip!
