Sunday was a bit of a rush at Gateway Motorsports Park. Weather threatened to put a damper on the Anarchy At The Arch IV race, so the decision was made to move the runs along as fast as humanely and safely possible in order to beat Mother Nature’s worst. In the end, she won, but to be fair to Mel Roth and everybody working behind the scenes, the race couldn’t have gone any better. No oildowns. Nothing that a couple of minutes’ worth of touch-ups couldn’t fix. No catastrophes. The laps clicked off like a machine, with the scheduled downtime for track prep occurring almost lock-step with the schedule. Given the pace of it all, we couldn’t believe how smoothly everything ran. We know that everybody is a professional and does their job to the best of their ability, but even the best crews get tested every now and then. Luckily, with all eyes on the radar, there wasn’t a hitch.
