Rocky Mountain Raceway’s Night Of Fire 2018: A Photographic View Of A Final Bash

Rocky Mountain Raceway’s Night Of Fire 2018: A Photographic View Of A Final Bash

The sad truth is that the Night of Fire event at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, Utah is that it’s a farewell blowout. After the 2018 season ends, so does Rocky Mountain Raceways. A five-year extension lease wraps up at the end of 2018 and there is no option for renewal, so it looks likely that the tracks will become more commercial properties in short order. But instead of rolling over and calling it a day, the Young Automotive Group stacked the calendar with over 140 events in the oval track, motocross track and the dragstrip. Night of Fire is the last big hurrah, and they are doing their best to make it memorable.

The goal was to livestream the whole weekend, everything from the snowmobiles turning nine-second quarter miles to the Jelly Belly wheelstanding stagecoach. The demon that loves to haunt me, “Technical Difficulties”, somehow slipped out of his cage and proceeded to wreak seven shades of Hell all over today’s plans. So if you saw any of the abbreviated videos taken on the starting line, here’s where I apologize, as well as those who were looking forward to streaming video of the event. I’ve found the problem, have a potential solution and as you’re reading this, I’ll be putting that into play. But for now, here’s my third backup plan, some photos of the action from one of the more interesting tracks I’ve been to!
