Rough Start: There Has To Be A Story About This 396-Powered 1975 Buick Skylark!

Rough Start: There Has To Be A Story About This 396-Powered 1975 Buick Skylark!

There is no way I’m buying that this 1975 Buick Skylark is being sold for $900 as you will see it in the pictures. It’s too together, too ready to go, and there isn’t one mention of a dead engine or the usual “selling as a roller only” jargon that usually goes with an old race car. No, so far, everything points to a street/strip build that has never been on the strip that is supposedly being sold as one whole, functioning car. Take that with a grain of salt, but if that is truly the case, someone near this thing had better go look. A lot of the signs are good…for starters, there are three pedals in the footwell even though currently there is a TH350 with a converter backing the Chevrolet 396ci rat under the hood. The underhood area is simple and straightforward and the car wears it’s age well.

If the owner isn’t kidding about the price, you’ve got four grand to play with as far as the Rough Start budget goes. We’d be on the phone to our connections at American Powertrain in half a second while we were typing up the For Sale ad about a nice, used TH350 that was available. Even if you kept this little X-body on the street alone, those three pedals need to be used and this car with the right five or six speed trans would be a hoot with the 3.73 gears out back!

it’s not worth $900. I love the ‘no rust’ you mean, that you can see? oh wait, there’s rust under the hood – and those bubbles, well, if you can’t ‘see’ it, then it doesn’t exist, right?

malaise Nova with a malaise motor – not 427, not 454, 396… not just that, he converted a manual car to automatic, we’ve sent people to burn in hell for lesser sins.
