In the heat and humidity at ZMax Dragway in Charlotte there was certainly no shortage of horsepower, but putting all that power to the ground with hot track temps is not an easy task. And with horsepower production getting easier and easier each year, and cars showing up with more and more of that horsepower, making it through first round is harder than any other as the temp goes down during later rounds in the evening. Street Car Takeover events have grown a lot in recent years and it seems that they get stacked with heavier hitters each and every time. Battling the heat is always something drag racers will have to deal with, and it continues to get trickier as the average cars horsepower number keeps climbing year by year. For the small tire class at SCT Charlotte, it was all about getting through 1st round, and hoping that the track cools off for the later rounds.
