Now that the weather is starting to sink into the cold and bitter for most of the United States, in Australia it’s the time to get out there and have a bit of fun as their spring is fully underway! Part of that kickoff involves the Street Machine Drag Challenge, an Australian take on the long-distance, multi-track race trip that uses Drag Week-style rules to go by. That means that you’re driving your machines to the checkpoints provided, and racing for an average over the entire event. Unlike in America, however, these guys have to play by the Australian government’s rules, which to put it mildly, aren’t gearhead-friendly. Actually, that’s not quite right. The official viewpoint is that the racers in this series are barely above people who randomly smack babies right in the face, it seems, or at least that’s what we keep hearing from people across the pond. But we digress…
As we watch the late fall rains turn everything into a leaf-lined sloppy mess, you can hit the play button below and check out some of the runs made by the street cars that are allowed on Australian roads!
