The Barra-Powered Granada Goes Racing! How Does The Disco Sleeper Do?

The Barra-Powered Granada Goes Racing! How Does The Disco Sleeper Do?

I still don’t like Ford Granadas. I still think that they’re a Ford Falcon dolled up with every ounce of gingerbread that Iacocca-era Ford could conjure up just before Lido and Henry the Second had their major falling-out. I still think that the Ford Maverick was the better car for the platform, and did a better job for Ford than these baroque barges with their UV-afflicted plastic wood. But can a Granada rock? This has become an argument point every time I bark off about how I’m not a fan of these cars, and sure, anything with a 302 and four-speed can be fun if you put your foot deep into it, sure. But that’s not the route that the Fuel Injection Sucks channel did…instead, they got their hands on one of the few Ford Australia-sourced Barra inline-sixes that have made it over to the states. Now, this isn’t anything shocking to our Aussie friends, but the 4.0L six with a turbocharger on it is something to behold. This is a V8 killer, and it’ll still produce that straight-six noise. It’ll be a hell of a lot cleaner sounding than any Falcon six installed, but imagine going out hunting with this car. Imagine dragging up to a late-model with a car that looks like an excellent $1,000 Facebook Marketplace score and you hand them their ass on a silver platter…with garnish, au jus, and a candle for the ambience just for the thrill of it.

If you can watch this without thinking about some wildcat stalking in the grass, one good pounce away from clamping jaws down on the nearest unwary impala…well, consider it. This is good.
