The Bumper Doesn’t Count As A Wheelie Bar! This Nitrous Small-Block Malibu Launches Hard!

The Bumper Doesn’t Count As A Wheelie Bar! This Nitrous Small-Block Malibu Launches Hard!

The first time your racing machine tries to make the move from horizontal to vertical and nearly succeeds is the point where wheelie bars should really be considered. You can be forgiven if it’s the car’s first hit or it’s the first time the nose has gone way up in the air, but that’s supposed to be your wake-up moment. When that happens, either soften up the launch a bit to keep your car from turning into a four-wheeled wing or you bite the bullet and put sticks and wheels out of the back to make sure that there is such a thing as an upper threshold for a wheels-up launch that doesn’t put the driver in danger. But some racers love the thrill of seeing nothing but sky for the first few moments of a run, and apparently Ant Boney is one of them. His nitrous small-block Malibu, known as “Keisha”, has been going nose-high from the moment it debuted and at a run at Orlando, went hard enough to not only go all-four off, but managed to rip the rear bumper off of the car in the process. Does it look radical? Absolutely. But did that silver Mustang take the opportunity to blast past for the win? Of course!
