If there is one thing that we have to hand to Cleetus, it’s that not only does he build and race, but first and foremost he’s a showman…one that has made his own circus to play in. Seriously, the dude’s a six-foot-six-ish P.T. Barnum with the scent of roasted tire with a hint of post-firework smoke about him, happily leading crowds of horsepower-hungry little minions all over the place as if he was the Pied Piper. We can’t be mad at him for that. Nor can we be mad that he has his own events where he pretty much sets up to do just about whatever he wants to.
His current darling is the “Cleetus and Cars” events, a wild mix of drag racing, demolition derby, Aussie-style burnouts, and of course a general party atmosphere. His first Cleetus and Cars event went down at Houston Raceway Park and he brought two heavy-hitters with him: Ruby (the Auction Mistake Corvette), fresh with another “new” engine in the bay, and Project Neighbor, the Crown Victoria with the heart of a Shelby GT500. Both cars are bonafide badasses, and both cars have goals that need to be achieved. Ruby has an eight-second quarter-mile in there somewhere, if he can keep the engine in one piece long enough, and as for the ex-cop car…well…those tires aren’t gonna kill themselves! Let the debauchery begin!
Won’t watch.
This is 110% stupid.
