This Mazda RX-3 Is Angry! This Turbocharged 13B-powered Terror Is Good For 7.61@175 MPH At The Top End!

Until I saw this car, I never thought of a Mazda anything as an angry car. For that matter, what makes a car “angry”? That part is simple: An aggressive look, a pissed-off noisemaker under the hood and the ability to move out not just with a purpose, but with authority and intention. All things considered, this Mazda RX-3 is properly angry. It’s clean as a whistle, but those pipes jutting out of the right front tell you everything you need to know: there’s a turbo somewhere under that hood that is stuffing as much forced air into the Wankel engine as is physically possible. The result is what was supposed to be a frugal family sedan from Japan turned into a monster, complete with a yowl so piercing you’d swear someone stepped on the tail of the devil’s pet cat. It’s a hard-charging little mother, and it’ll get respect.

Added bonus: stay with the video until the end for the fishtailing, gear-grabbing Holden VL!

Any SoCal guys remember ToraToraTora! ? An RX3 that ran ,I think ,in the early days of Pro Gas, before the “pro” guys got all butt hurt and made them change the name to Super Gas .
It may have been a Comp class car.
It ran 9.s without a turbo and made your ears bleed when it was on track.
My Stock Elem friend had the misfortune to pit next to him one year at Pamona, it sounded like he set the timing at 15,000 rpm!
The constant ringing in my ears started then I’m sure.

Bryan; That was the most entertaining, well-written description for the set-up of a video I’ve read in a long time. “Devil’s pet cat…”
    Well done!

I do remember a guy named Terry Howard that ran an RX3, it had a Dana 60 and a manual box. I don’t remember much more than that.
