It’s brutally fast, it’s pretty enough to show and if it weren’t for the cowl hood, Dzus fasteners and the wheel/tire combination, you’d mistake it for a street car. This 1979 Mercury Zephyr is proof that with the right setup, any car can be awesome. In this case, the small-block Ford (that’s right, no LS in sight!) is on a serious nitrous regiment and even with a full interior, cage and the added equipment, the featherweight Fox-body is ready to hit the track and whoop some ass. Stacy Kinney, the Mercury’s owner, plays on the tracks of Oklahoma City, and we don’t need to tell you how good your game needs to be in order to be somebody in that area. There are plenty of solid dragstrip terrors just waiting to come out of the woodwork, but make sure you keep your eye on the shoebox Mercury with the red vinyl roof…Kinney knows what he’s doing behind the wheel.
Makes me sad I sold my Grenada years ago.
It’s amazing how similar the Zephyr and Malibu look alike. That is a sweet ride too.
Looks like a hell of a ride
