The fastest way an audience gets to their feet at a race is when the cars look like they crossed the stripe at the same damn time. If you see two or three lengths, you know who took the win and you move on to the next round. When you have to go down to the hundredths or even thousandths to see the winner and you need slow-motion footage for your eyes to believe it…that’s entertainment! In bracket racing it’s fairly common because those guys have their machines dialed down to a science. In grudge racing, it’s not so common…you generally have a good idea by half-track who is running the show on the line, but not in this case! This is some footage that comes to us courtesy of J. Malcom, straight from his home territory of Middle Georgia Motorsports Park in Jeffersonville, Georgia. The race is called 1 Shot, 1 Kill and it’s a no-time grudge deal. That Monte Carlo is a big-block monster owned by Lyndon Childs and the Mustang is one of the many wicked Fox bodies that come out of the Coupe Performance shop. From the hit to the end, it looks like the Mustang took it’s very slight lead off of the line and used it for everything it was worth, but that Monte is not to be discounted…it was hanging right alongside and pulling hard. It might be called 1 Shot, 1 Kill but this is a pairing that deserves to go best two out of three!
