TRI-FIVE NATIONALS 2024: The Hot Rod Hoarder Shares His Favorite Historic Race Cars, GASSERS and 409’s From Beech Bend.

I own a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Station Wagon, and while I always liked Tri-Five Chevys I never considered myself a “Tri-Five guy” until I got it. That’s not to say that I love all three Tri Five models equally, because I do have a favorite, but they are pretty cool rides. My favorite is the ’56, because I think it has the best of the 1955’s boxy good looks but adds just enough swoop to the fenderwells to make it even better. My second favorite is the 1955, with the 1957 Chevy coming in third. If you are like me and think that Tri-Fives are cool, then you will definitely want to see the video here from the Tri-Five Nationals at Beech Bend in Kentucky.

This event is huge, and features thousands of Tri-Fives of all shapes, sizes, and styles. Thanks to our friend Tommy Lee Byrd, The Hot Rod Hoarder, we’re going to get to see his favorites. He’s got some great cars to highlight in the following video, so check it out and let us know what you think.

Video Description:

The Tri Five Nationals presented by CPP is a must-see event, as it features more than 2,500 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevys of all varieties. Of course, I gravitate to the historic race cars, and old school hot rods, so that’s most of what you’ll see in this video. This year, I saw more W motors than ever, which is a great surprise because I just love a 409 in a ’55 Chevy. I focused a lot of my efforts on the historic Super Stock cars on the property, and was amazed at some of the specs on these cars…mid 11’s with a 265 is impressive!

I’m looking forward to doing in depth features on Larry Nelson’s 55 Chevy stocker, Ron Snick’s 1955 Chevy convertible gasser and the absolutely stunning 1957 Corvette “Air Box” car, which has SERIOUS racing history. But for now, enjoy the highlights and stay tuned for more!
