Are These Z28’s Cool? Is This The Next Second Gen Camaro To Have? What Do You Think?

Are These Z28’s Cool? Is This The Next Second Gen Camaro To Have? What Do You Think?

I used to be a real snob about Camaros. I’m a 1st Gen Camaro guy at heart, but would drive a 2nd Gen as well, but only if it was a 1970-1973 model. Or at least that WAS the case. Now I find myself digging the later 2nd Gen cars like the 1979 Z28 Camaro pictured here. This one is for sale has only 8000 original miles on it and is part of a collection that is up for sale. At $30,000 it’s a little high for my blood, but goes to show you that a solid car worth building can be had for a few thousand dollars. So does that mean these late 2nd Gen Camaros are cool? Are they pro-touring fodder? Will disco comments stop being the norm when we see one driving down the road?

Tell us what you think. And tell us if you think there is some other car out there that is going to be the “next in thing” to drive for hot rodders. Let us know what you think.

We think this is cool.

The 78-81 Camaro has always been cool in my eyes. My dad bought one brand new in 78, and we’ve been playing with it ever since. In its current form it has run a beast of 8.61@158mph and has been on an episode of “Pinks All Out.” These cars will always be my favorite Camaros!

I have a one owner 79 Z-28 that my dad bought for my mom hiding in my garage. I’m hoping one day I will have the funding to restore it or make one bad ass hot rod out of it. There’s nothing like the sound of a 572 power plant. Hint hint to my wife and kids. Daddy needs a new toy. LOL

I own a 1978 Rally Sport Camaro with a full compliment of Hotchkis sport tuned suspension, Basset NASCAR wheels, 290 HP GM crate motor, 4-speed, total investment is about $8000. its a kick in pants to drive with handling that stunning. I bought it simply because the “desirable & popular” Camaros; 1967,68,69 early 70’s ones, are out of reach financially & have been DONE TO DEATH. Fun fact, the bolt on parts and parts out there for the Disco Era cars like mine are off the charts & I can still buy parts off the shelf at O’Riellys auto. These cars are affordable to build and look great. At least, for now, until one rolls thru Barrett Jackson for six figures$$$$$$ & the speculators destroy that market too. haha
