Check Out This Rotary Swapped MGB – RX7 13b Drivetrain

We’re used to seeing lots of engine swaps, but quite frankly the ones we pay most attention to are the ones that are V8 swaps, or turbo something swaps, into something that never had either. But this rotary swapped MGB caught our attention. It’s a 1979 MGB that looks to be in pretty nice shape, but a Mazda RX7 drivetrain swap that features the 13b with a Holley on it and the 5-speed trans is what really makes it a riot. The ad refers to an RX7 Drivetrain swap, so we’re not sure if that means the rear end and such as well honestly. Either way, it has limited slip and 4.11 gears out back. It needs a little attention with regards to a tuneup, but we’re sure you can handle that.

Price Dropped $1000 to $4700 because I’d like this to go before winter if possible.

Emissions legal! Inspected, tagged and passed emissions in Colorado.
This has been an ongoing project for several years. I swapped in the rx7 drive train and used a NA engine which ran like a top but has been sitting and now will need some carb and or ignition work. I thought this car would qualify for classic tags, but it doesn’t. Anyway, I’ve lost interest, clean title, but not currently insured or registered. The car is over 95% done.
Ran great – was being built to be daily driver, fast on the road and handle very well. Has over sized sway bars front and rear, tube shock conversion in rear,
4 wheel disk brakes, limited slip 4:11 rear axle, 5 speed manual trans, new clutch,
pressurized struts for hood and trunk (HUGE improvement)
Front suspension all rebuilt – urethane bushings throughout
Stainless lines
Dual handle turning brakes
Runs cool
Autometer gauges,
12 speaker stereo w/ amps.
new tires, leather miata seats, new stainless brake lines, all new brakes, all new suspension bushings, new soft top, but also has somewhat rare hard top, new windshield, new dashboard, new carpet, even a new battery.
Paint is decent but has a few trouble spots.

Aluminum door panels (swirl brushed)
Chrome trim was painted black which in my opinion looked much better, but very chipped. I had a quote for $180 to have the trim, headlight rings, wiper arms and cowl vent powder coated.
There are 2 small dents in the body – and not sure why, but the paint on the trunk sux – bubbled in spots. Also the hood right up front has some paint flaws.

Here’s a video to a cold start:
